INTRODUCTION

A multilingual website needs more than translated text.

Languages change the length of headings, the way things are said and what users expect. A layout that looks balanced in one language can become cramped or unclear in another.

At ENOR, we take these differences into account during design. We organise content and interface so every version feels part of the same brand, with room for the adjustments each language and audience needs.

The service is design. Coding, installing translation systems, professional translation, publishing and ongoing SEO are not included.

WHO IT IS FOR

For businesses that communicate in more than one language.

Examples of business types, not a client portfolio.

  • Companies with international clients

  • Hotels and tour operators

  • Manufacturers and exporters

  • Service businesses

  • Online stores

  • Digital platforms

  • Organisations with multilingual audiences

Adding languages alone doesn’t open new markets; it helps the audience you target understand the offer.

WHAT THE SERVICE INCLUDES

Design that accounts for differences between languages.

Languages, pages and variants are included as set in the proposal.

We design a recognisable, usable mechanism.

Result: Language switcher for desktop and mobile

  3. 03

    Flexible layouts

We adapt spacing, headings and components.

    Result: Rules for long text

  4. 04

    Typography and visual materials

We assess script support and how materials adapt.

    Result: Checked fonts and materials

  5. 05

    Responsive screens and prototype

We check the experience on the defined screens.

Result: Language variants and a prototype

  6. 06

    Handoff for implementation

Result: Files and notes on text and behaviour

LANGUAGE AND MARKET

Language doesn’t always tell you where the customer is.

A visitor who chooses English may be in Albania. Switching language shouldn’t change the currency, products or terms without explanation.

We separate

  • The content language
  • The country or market
  • The currency
  • Service availability
  • Commercial terms

When the project needs a separate market choice, we design it as a distinct feature. We don’t base the whole experience on guessing from location.

Language changes the text; the market changes currency and availability. They are two separate choices.

Switch the language: the market stays the same. Switch the market: currency and availability change.

CHOOSING AND SWITCHING LANGUAGE

Visitors should find their language without searching for it.

We design a consistent switcher, with language names in their own form and with open, focus and active states.

  • Consistent placement
  • Clear labelling
  • Active language

Switching takes you to the equivalent page in the chosen language.

Open the list and choose a language; with “Italiano” see how a missing translation is handled.

Flags are never the only way to identify a language. Switching aims for the equivalent page, not a return to the home page.

When a translation is missing, we design a clear, controlled solution.

TEXT AND LAYOUT

Room for language, without losing clarity.

We design components for text of different lengths and define how they behave when text gets longer.

Edited when it doesn’t fit

The texts belong to the illustrative concept; in a project we use your real content in your languages.

Pick a language to see the same components with real text.

  • Longer headings
  • Multi-word buttons
  • Menus with long labels
  • Cards with varied content
  • Error messages
  • Help text
  • Forms
  • Approved legal content

We define when

  • Text wraps to a new line
  • The component grows
  • The order changes
  • Content needs editing

We don’t solve overflow by shrinking type too far or cutting the main message. We use representative content in the project’s real languages.

TYPOGRAPHY AND WRITING DIRECTION

Typography that supports the chosen languages.

We assess letters and marks, diacritics, weights, legibility and line height, and how text mixes with numbers and symbols.

  • Letters and marks
  • Diacritics
  • Weights
  • Legibility
  • Line height
  • Text with numbers and symbols

For right-to-left languages, when included

  • Flow
  • Navigation
  • Forms
  • Directional icons
  • Numbers and mixed elements

We don’t mirror every icon or visual automatically. Supported languages and directions are set in the project scope.

The RTL example only shows the principle; languages and directions are included per project scope.

Check diacritics at different weights, then the right-to-left example.

FORMATS AND FORMS

Details that make the interface understandable.

Dates, times, numbers, currencies and units vary by language and country. We design them so they don’t cause confusion.

  • Names of varying length
  • Phone numbers with prefix
  • Addresses
  • Dates
  • Times
  • Numbers
  • Currencies
  • Units

We don’t use ambiguous date formats and we don’t restrict names to letters without diacritics. These are design guidelines; technical validation and formatting happen during implementation.

The formats in the table are computed by the browser for each language.

PHOTOS AND VISUAL CONTENT

The message should stay clear beyond the text.

We choose images with suitable context and crops that keep the subject, clear icons and room for captions. When needed, we plan language-specific variants of materials.

  • Images with context
  • Crops that keep the subject
  • Clear icons
  • Room for captions
  • Material variants

We avoid important text baked into images; if a graphic contains text, we plan variants per language. We don’t use stereotypes to represent markets or audiences.

MOBILE EXPERIENCE AND ACCESSIBILITY

Switching language shouldn’t make the site harder to use.

During design we check menu length, switcher space, headings, forms and buttons, along with contrast, focus, zoom and logical reading order.

  • Menu length
  • Switcher space
  • Headings
  • Forms
  • Buttons
  • Contrast
  • Focus
  • Zoom
  • Reading order

We don’t hide the language choice where it is hard to find. Design alone doesn’t guarantee full accessibility; implementation and testing are still needed.

  • Switching language keeps the visitor on the equivalent page.
  • Text length changes; the layout copes.
  • Italian: the translation is missing and a controlled solution appears.
  • The market is chosen separately from the language.

The prototype simulates behaviour; it is not a working translation system. Placeholder content is not presented as an approved translation.
